Automated mailings require that your mail list be CASS Certified periodically to ensure that the addresses are standardized and are deliverable addresses. The certification process also adds the information to your list that is required to generate the delivery point barcode. This report must accompany every automated mailing and show that your list has been processed within the proper amount of time.

Barcoded Tray/Bag Tags
The Post Office now requires that Tray Tags be barcoded to speed routing and processing. The tray tags show the from and to destinations for the particular tray and the category of presort for the pieces inside. Our tray tags also show the tray number and the count of pieces in the tray which matches the mail sort listing, just to reduce any chance of confusion.

Barcoded Address Labels
The address labels will be printed 1 up (great for machine labelers) or 2 across (laser labels easy for manual application). Each label includes the address, a delivery point barcode and the tray and package number for easy preparation. The height of the label will be selected depending on how many address lines are needed for your list. Pinemailers.com will provide you with detailed instructions on exact placement of labels and tabs (if needed) to meet the US Post Office Standards for automated mailings.

USPS Automation Standards
All of the above is for naught if the mail piece is not automation compatible. Included are excerpts from Post Office standards documentation that explain automation requirements. The time to ensure that your mail piece meets these requirements is during the design of the piece, prior to production. If in doubt, go to your Post Office to get their opinion or approval.

Self Mailers
Self Mailers must be tabbed shut either once or twice, depending upon the final fold to claim the automation discount. 28# paper or heavier is required for Self Mailers. Postal approved tabs are available for purchase.
(Request tabs in special instructions block)

one tab - If the final fold is on the bottom then one tab is required on the top.
two tabs - If the final fold is on the top then one tab needs to be place on each bottom corner within 1 inch from the edge.
